Romans 12:9-12
Be sincere in your love for others. Hate everything that is evil and hold tightly to everything that is good. Love each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do yourself. Never give up. Eagerly follow the Holy Spirit and serve the Lord. Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in time of trouble and never stop praying.

The Story of the Candy Cane
A candy maker in Indiana wanted to make a candy that would be a remind others about Christ, so he made the Christmas Candy Cane. He incorporated several symbols for the birth, ministry and death of Jesus Christ. He began with a stick of pure white hard candy. White to symbolize the virgin birth and the sinless nature of Jesus; and hard to symbolize the Solid Rock, the foundation of the Church, and firmness of the promises of God. The candy maker made the candy in the form of a “J” to represent the beloved name of his Savior Jesus, who came to earth to die on our behalf. It could also represent the staff of the “Good Shepherd” with which He reaches down into the world to lift out the fallen lambs who, like all sheep, have gone astray. Thinking that the candy was somewhat plain, the candy maker stained it with red stripes. He used three small stripes to show the stripes of the scourging by whips Jesus received. The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Christ on the cross where He died to pay for our sins so that all who trust in Him could have eternal life. Unfortunately, the candy became known as a candy cane, a meaningless decoration seen at Christmas time. But the meaning is still there for those who “have eyes to see and ears to hear”. I am sure that the candy maker would love to have this symbol again be used to remind people of the wonder of Jesus and His GREAT LOVE that came down at Christmas and remains the ultimate force in the universe today.

I have faith that God will show you the answer. But you have to understand that sometimes it takes a while to be able to recognize what God wants you to do. That’s how it often is. God’s voice is usually nothing more than a whisper, and you have to listen very carefully to hear it. But other times, in those rarest of moments, the answer is obvious and rings as loud as a church bell. Nicholas Sparks, The Last Song (via palleo)

Confront God and stop living a double life. Don’t let the shame stop you from seeking God. He is here in our lives because of things like these. He loves us no matter what.
